Photo for today
When Gary Winnogrand looked at my photographs
Gary Winogrand was a visiting artist at the University of Illinois when I was an undergraduate student there. He also came to Rhode Island School of Design. At the time I was making infrared photographs with a 35mm camera using a flash with a #87 filter over the flash. I was really excited about the pictures and the way of working because the pictures had this dream quality or “out of this world quality”. Almost like they were memory or emotion and not facts. Winogrand said:” you don’t need this.” He thought it was a gimmick.
I especially liked photographing with infrared film because I could photograph in dark situations, bars and parties where the light was low without disturbing the ambience.
I am trying to add a new photo often to the website and to this blog
If you go to my website you can see many more photographs
I love the way software replaces film choices for photographers

My work is included in the Artist Printmaker Research Collection at Texas Tech

The creek that runs through Park Glen
This is the creek near our house. I have been photographing in the neighborhood since we moved here in 2000.
